Atlantic Council Internship: Global Energy Center – Fall 2023 Young Global Professionals Program

Description

The Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center (GEC) promotes energy security by working alongside government, industry, civil society, and public stakeholders to devise pragmatic solutions to the geopolitical, sustainability, and economic challenges of the changing global energy landscape.

Our Young Global Professionals provide important research and logistical support to the Center. They are also encouraged to participate in and attend events hosted by other programs at the Atlantic Council.

SOLAR PV MODULE MANUFACTURING PROCESS EXPLAINED – from solar cells to solar panel

YGPs are an integral part of the GEC. As part of a small team, most of our projects are all-hands-on-deck and we encourage interns to actively engage with events, projects, and research. This position will expose the candidate to the logistical elements of event-planning, think tank operations, and our publications process. 

The successful candidate will have a passion for the work, an entrepreneurial ethos, and a collegial spirit while also being an effective communicator. With a work culture of constant learning, the GEC values strong writing skills and the ability to produce rigorous work under deadlines. Demonstrated interest in international affairs and/or energy and climate policy through classwork or experience is preferred.

This internship is based in our Washington, DC headquarters at a rate of $17 per hour. Candidates must be available to work in person through the term of the program, from Monday, August 7, 2023 to December 15, 2023.

Responsibilities: Atlantic Council Internship: Global Energy Center – Fall 2023 Young Global Professionals Program

  • Conduct research to support the activities and projects of the staff.
  • Handle an array of logistical coordination for program events and activities.
  • Draft correspondence and take notes at Council public events, roundtables, and strategy sessions for program archives.
  • Write analytical pieces for publication on GEC’s EnergySource blog.

Qualifications: Atlantic Council Internship: Global Energy Center – Fall 2023 Young Global Professionals Program

Must be at least a college junior in good standing, a graduate student, or a recent graduate.

Demonstrated interest in international affairs with a focus on energy, foreign policy, economics, or climate policy.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including the ability to identify and work through challenges. Candidates should display strong judgment and emotional intelligence.

Strong analytical, planning, time management, and organizational skills.

Aptitude in research and writing are required.

Proficiency in MS Office suite is required.

Poise and professionalism in a team environment across hierarchies with colleagues and counterparts in the United States and abroad.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) in the office.
