New UNEP Young Talent Pipeline, in partnership with UNV: applications now open
The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has launched a new talent acquisition initiative called the Young Talent Pipeline, in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme.
This is aimed at increasing the diversity of experiences and solutions to solve the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature loss and pollution and waste.
UNEP, in partnership with UNV, is actively looking for the first cohort of young, passionate, and skilled talent from less represented regions of the world to join the organization and become the environmental leaders of tomorrow.

Applications are now open for 12 new international UN Volunteer specialist assignments, closing on 15 May 2023.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme are partnering to build a new cohort of attract future environmental leaders: the UNEP-UNV Young Talent Pipeline.
Dynamic thinkers with three years of experience and a passion for driving UNEP’s solutions to the triple planetary crises of nature and biodiversity loss, climate change and waste and chemical pollution environment agenda forward are encouraged to apply.
Through this Young Talent Pipeline, early career professionals will contribute to the cutting edge of UNEP’s mandate.
Selected candidates will be based in UNEP’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and assignments are expected to begin in September/October 2023 and last for 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
Colleagues recruited through the Young Talent Pipeline will have access to learning and professional development opportunities, including a suite of online learning programmes.

Opportunities for Solar Energy Development in Europe
Candidates will need to have degrees in relevant areas, three years of professional experience and a passion for UNEP’s mission. Women and people from marginalized groups are especially encouraged to apply.

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide.
We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.

UNV headquarters are in Bonn, Germany. UNV has around 150 staff members at headquarters, and over 10,921 UN Volunteers deployed in the field in 2021.
Mr Toily Kurbanov (Russian Federation) is the Executive Coordinator of UNV, and took up his appointment on 4 January 2021.
Ms Kyoko Yokosuka (Japan) is the Deputy Executive Coordinator and took up her appointment in April 2021.
UNV’s Office in New York (ONY) promotes volunteers and volunteerism through partnership development with Permanent Missions to the UN, UN partners headquartered in New York, civil society organizations and other NY-based partners.
It monitors policy and strategy developments at the UN in New York and contributes to UN Volunteer mobilization by developing and promoting volunteer solutions within UN partner operations, projects and programmes, coordinating closely with UNV headquarters, regional offices and field units.
UNV has six Regional Offices in Amman (covering the Arab States), Bangkok (covering Asia and the Pacific), Dakar (covering West and Central Africa), Istanbul (covering Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States), Nairobi (covering East and Southern Africa) and Panama City (covering Latin America and the Caribbean).
The regional offices are the first entry point for partners wishing to engage with UNV. They offer UNV services and solutions to government partners, UN entities, civil society and the private sector, and takes the lead in scoping and delivering UNV advisory services on volunteer infrastructure. They also provide oversight and strategic guidance to UNV’s field units in the regions.
