Clean Energy Transition Scenarios, EUR 900 a month plus monthly accommodation rate of EUR 500<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an inter-governmental organisation headquartered in Abu Dhabi, mandated to promote the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy in the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security and low-carbon economic growth and prosperity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IRENA\u2019s mission is to play a leading role in the ongoing transformation of the global energy systems as a centre of excellence for knowledge and innovation, a global voice of renewable energy, a network hub for all stakeholders and a source of advice and support for countries. At present, IRENA has 169 Members (168 States and the European Union) that acceded to its Statute, and 15 additional States in the process of accession and actively engaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ufeff<a href=\"https:\/\/solareyesinternational.com\/environmental-scientist-intern-tetra-tech-united-states\/\">Environmental Scientist Intern \u2013 TETRA TECH, United States<\/a><span data-rich-text-placeholder=\"Type \/ to choose a block or \/\/ to use Content AI\" contenteditable=\"false\" style=\"pointer-events:none;user-select:none;-webkit-user-select:none;-moz-user-select:none;-ms-user-select:none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Agency implements its mandate with the view to sustainable development, increased energy security and low-carbon economic growth and prosperity. To achieve this goal, IRENA\u2019s Innovation and Technology Centre (IITC) has provided a range of insights on possible paths for such a transformation, spanning multiple geographic areas, sectors and topics. Models and scenarios play a key role in the development of transition paths.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Against this background, IRENA coordinates the \u201cLong-term Energy Scenarios (LTES) Network\u201d. The Network aims to promote the wider adoption and improved use of long-term model-based energy scenarios by: (1) sharing country experience in the use and benefits of energy scenarios for national and regional policy planning; (2) showcasing innovative tools and methods for energy scenario modelling that address the clean energy transition; and (3) identifying channels to build capacity for clean energy transition planning in countries with limited experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Objectives_of_the_Internship_Assignment_IRENA_Internship_%E2%80%93_Clean_Energy_Transition_Scenarios_EUR_900_a_month_plus_monthly_accommodation_rate_of_EUR_500\"><\/span>Objectives of the Internship Assignment: IRENA Internship &#8211; Clean Energy Transition Scenarios, EUR 900 a month plus monthly accommodation rate of EUR 500<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The internship post is located in the&nbsp;<strong>Partnerships&nbsp;<\/strong>sub-programme within the&nbsp;<strong>Network Hub<\/strong>&nbsp;programme. The intern will provide support to the work of the&nbsp;<strong>Long-term Energy Scenarios Network<\/strong>&nbsp;in 2023\/2024, particularly in the implementation of the&nbsp;<strong>outreach strategy&nbsp;<\/strong>for selected activities taking place in 2023\/2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Particular Functions<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with the objectives outlined above, the intern will contribute to the day-to-day work behind IRENA\u2019s LTES Network and the Network\u2019s outreach strategy, including:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ufeff<a href=\"https:\/\/solareyesinternational.com\/regional-energy-specialist-africa-undp\/\">Regional Energy Specialist, Africa \u2013 UNDP<\/a><span data-rich-text-placeholder=\"Type \/ to choose a block or \/\/ to use Content AI\" contenteditable=\"false\" style=\"pointer-events:none;user-select:none;-webkit-user-select:none;-moz-user-select:none;-ms-user-select:none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Support the development of Network inputs and outputs, including but not limited to: webinars, website materials, technical and non-technical reports, workshop presentations, and outcome documents, and a wide range of Network communication materials;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support research on the use of energy scenarios for national and regional policy planning, as well as on the role of renewables within that process;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support internal and external stakeholder engagement and communication at a variety of organisational levels (e.g. national, international), and in a variety of contexts;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform other duties as required.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Learning Areas<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the internship period, the successful applicant will develop a deep understanding of the long-term scenario development process, including, in particular, issues related to its use in policymaking to achieve national and global energy and climate targets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intern will also be able to further develop their skills related to research, analytical thinking, drafting, meeting organization, and communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Timeframe<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The internship is for a period of&nbsp;<strong>six<\/strong>&nbsp;months commencing as soon as possible. The exact period will be determined based on the availability of the intern and the needs of the programme. The maximum duration of the internship is nine months, subject to the intern\u2019s continued university enrolment and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Minimum_Requirements_IRENA_Internship_%E2%80%93_Clean_Energy_Transition_Scenarios_EUR_900_a_month_plus_monthly_accommodation_rate_of_EUR_500\"><\/span>Minimum Requirements: IRENA Internship &#8211; Clean Energy Transition Scenarios, EUR 900 a month plus monthly accommodation rate of EUR 500<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates must have completed an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a Master&#8217;s or doctorate programme at a recognized university at the time of application and for the duration of the internship. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowledge of climate\/energy finance mechanisms is desirable.
