Hybrid Project Engineer\">QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS &#8211; Hybrid Project Engineer<\/a><\/li><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-2'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-7\" href=\"https:\/\/solareyesinternational.com\/hybrid-project-engineer-edf-south-africa\/#FOLLOW_US\" title=\"FOLLOW US\">FOLLOW US<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bid_preparations_and_project_closing\"><\/span>Bid preparations and project closing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hybrid Project Engineer will play a key role in bidding, and bringing hybrid projects to financial close including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Definition of Employers Requirements<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Project Optimisation and value engineering<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 LCOE optimisation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Analysis and interrogation of information, designs and pricing provided by contractors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Supporting the procurement teams in contract negotiations, supplier due diligence, and lenders technical advisor support<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Completion of bid returnables to ensure optimal and compliant submissions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-dominant-color=\"a69e94\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #a69e94;\" loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"688\" src=\"https:\/\/solareyesinternational.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/EDF-2-1024x688.webp\" alt=\"Hybrid Project Engineer\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-5383\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">EDF<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Implementation_and_Asset_management\"><\/span>Implementation and Asset management:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After FC, the Project Engineer typically moves through with the project ensuring the design assumptions are implemented as planned and to spec:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Detail design interrogation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Ensuring the design is executed in accordance with the contracts in place, with the project specifications and in compliance with construction good practices, local rules and standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Review of documentations arising from Subcontractors and other project stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Review all design, drawings, calculations, datasheets, procedure and documentation for the project provided under each Subcontracts as per Subcontractor\u2019s document release schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Managing and reviewing BESS and hybrid installation and commissioning activities, including HPPC and VPPOC commissioning and tuning<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Management and reviewing of BESS and hybrid performance and testing (FAT, SAT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Supporting the implementation teams on construction related topics<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Adhering to EDFs project management framework and policy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Developing lessons learnt and return on experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Project_development\"><\/span>Project development<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During project development phases the Project Engineer will support the Study and Design Engineers on key topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Conducting and reporting on site visits particularly in later stages of the projects to assist in value engineering process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Conducting technical due diligence on prospective project acquisitions and external technical reports<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Providing strategic input on development strategies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Assist in design assumptions for permitting and review cost inputs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"General_Hybrid_Project_Engineer\"><\/span>General: Hybrid Project Engineer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides BESS specific tasks, the Hybrid Project Engineer will:<br>\u2022 Contribute towards EDF centre of excellence for storage, via knowledge base development and solid experience for BESS and all subsystems of various technologies.<br>\u2022 May be required to provide support for the Wind and PV work streams where needed, including in contract management, LCOE calculations, forecasting and ancillary services topics.<br>\u2022 This is a relatively new role within the team and it is expect to grow and adjust to the rapidly changing landscape of hybrid renewable projects in the region. The scope also includes working with and potentially supporting the Paris team or other subsidiaries on BESS and hybrid projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within specific projects the Hybrid Project Engineer could be expected to, from time to time, assume various roles in the coordination of project bids in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, across various technologies including wind, solar and storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"REPORTING_RELATIONSHIPS\"><\/span>REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hybrid Project Engineer will report to the Head of Project Engineering and work closely with<br>the lead BESS and Hybrid Engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"QUALIFICATIONS_AND_SKILLS_%E2%80%93_Hybrid_Project_Engineer\"><\/span>QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS &#8211; Hybrid Project Engineer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The required candidate will have the following skills and experience:<br>\u25aa Graduate degree in the Engineering field, or similar;<br>\u25aa At least three years renewable energy work experience (utility-scale preferable);<br>\u25aa Strong technical understanding of batteries and experience in all project phases for hybrid projects;<br>\u25aa Ability to work independently;<br>\u25aa Strong technical acumen with excellent problem-solving abilities and good attention to detail;<br>\u25aa Excellent communication and presentation skills<br>\u25aa Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities, with a strong focus on results and outcomes;<br>\u25aa Effective time management and ability to accurately judge appropriate quality level of deliverables;<br>\u25aa Ability to meet deadlines and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations;<br>\u25aa Good documentation and communication skills in both oral and written English;<br>\u25aa Full competency in MS Projects, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.;<br>\u25aa Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality;<br>\u25aa Willingness to travel and a degree of physical fitness;
