Account Manager Project Sales Southern & East Africa – SMA
We are looking for an individual who possesses strong sales experience, and preferably be at the beginning to middle part of their career. The successful candidate will work together with the existing Sales Team at SMA South Africa who are a young team, and the ideal candidate should be able to fit in with this dynamic well.
The successful candidate will work closely with management and Senior Application engineering to influence key decision makers within the industrial and utility solar, battery storage and hydrogen sector as well as key decision makers who represent end users within the sector (e.g., Industrial manufacturers or mining).

The candidate will oversee both commercial and technical offers which includes supporting the legal team during contract negotiations and driving the orders to delivery and execution of the project should SMA be contracted the commission the equipment on site. The candidate will also be responsible to nurture the relationships to further grow the portfolio with the customers.
Your Contribution to the Big Picture: Account Manager Project Sales Southern & East Africa – SMA
Manage relationships with customers who shall be EPCs, developers, fund managers, IPPs, and other stakeholders such as engineering consultants, utilities, government agencies, lenders, and end users. Develop and provide them with relevant value propositions.
Ensure evaluation of best offers, including tendering to customer requirements with joint key account client meetings supported by product managers and the sales team.
Review governmental and utility interconnection requirements and assist in achieving compliance to relevant regulatory schemes in target markets.
Review supply contracts and support the SMA legal team in identifying potential risks and provide the team with a better understanding of the local market.
Monitoring, coordinating, generating, and facilitating sales to SMA customers via products and services offered by SMA in industrial & utility markets.

Opening new doors for SMA sales actives via business development skills in the SEA region with focus on mines, municipalities, large private off-takers
Enhance and optimize the company’s sales operation in the specified territory and specified accounts including setting up future strategic sales direction.
Participate in webinars / (virtual) conferences with (potential) customers and speak on behalf of SMA technologies (Participate in panel discussions…)
Understand client’s technical requirements and liaising with the senior application engineer to finding the most suitable solution.
Finding solutions for complex projects (Hybrid, storage, P2X) and understand SMA offerings.
Train clients on SMA’s portfolio (products & services)
Professional lead of a team for sales projects from the subsidiary & HQ (Sales, technical & commercial negotiations)
Knowledge of market trends & competitor technologies
Knowledge in internal & external business operations and optimization

Offer support in the realization of large-scale projects (kick-off meeting, analysis of specifications, proposal, planning, etc.).
Preparation of complex quotations

Your skills are needed: Account Manager Project Sales Southern & East Africa – SMA
Undergraduate degree in Business, Sales, Engineering, or Law would be preferred.
A firm understanding of project development, project financing (to help identify key decision makers) and the sales value chain (from order to delivery to site) and ability to proactively manage this process to update customers accordingly.
Possess good knowledge about the regional Solar Market, regulations, key players, and consultants. Having a network on existing clients is a plus.
3+ years of experience in sales in the renewable industry and a good technical knowledge in the industry with key focus on industrial and utility energy sectors.
Solutions orientated with strong negotiation and deal closing skills.

Strong time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills
Ability to understand basic technologies in the renewable energy segment.
Comprehensive knowledge of CRM tools such as Salesforce and/or SAP is a plus.

Experience in dealing with Senior Management roles.
Fluency in English both written and verbal ability to use data to drive projects that will enhance sales performance.
