About Agence Française de Développement Group (AFD)
The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) group contributes to the implementation of France’s policy in terms of development and international solidarity. Climate, biodiversity, peace, education, urban planning, health, governance… Our teams are involved in 4,200 projects with a strong social and environmental impact in the French overseas territories and more than 150 countries. We are thus contributing to the commitment of France and the French in favor of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
AFD contributes to implementing France’s development and international solidarity policy. Through its public sector and NGO funding activities , its research work and publications , its training on sustainable development and its awareness-raising actions in France , it finances, supports and accelerates transitions towards a fairer and more resilient world. .
We work with our partners to build shared solutions, with and for the populations concerned. Our teams are involved in more than 3,250 projects and 115 countries, in territories in crisis, in the Overseas Territories and for common goods : the climate (with the ambition of a 100 % Paris Agreement activity), the gender equality , biodiversity , peace (with the Minka Peace and Resilience Fund in particular ), education and even health . We are thus contributing to the commitment of France and the French people in favor of the SDGs, for a common world.
AFD carries out these actions at the service of its clients, within the “Team France” for development and the “Team Europe”, with its partners: multilateral and bilateral partners, civil society organizations, foundations, local authorities , research centers but also the 530 public development banks gathered around the first two joint Finance summits and the 27 establishments gathered for ten years within the International Development Finance Club ( IDFC ), of which AFD chairs.
To achieve its objectives, the Group has invested 12.3 billion euros in 2022 in foreign countries and overseas territories. In the light of these results, French aid now represents 0.55 % of GNP and will reach 0.7 % by 2025.
