Energy Geopolitics Internship: Stockholm Environment Institute(SEI)

SEI Tallinn invites motivated individuals to apply for an internship position in our Climate, Energy and Atmosphere programme. This role is designed to support our researchers by offering insights into the geopolitical aspects of the energy transition.

Location: SEI Tallinn, Estonia (hybrid internship)
Duration: Minimum 3 months, maximum 6 months
Application deadline: 28 May 2023
Start date: Early June 2023
Language: Proficiency in English is required, while knowledge of Arabic or other languages is highly desirable.

Profile: Energy Geopolitics Internship: Stockholm Environment Institute(SEI)

We are looking for a responsible and diligent individual who is motivated to learn and harbors a keen interest in scientific publication.

The ideal candidate would have a relevant academic background in international relations, regional studies (with a focus on European or Asian studies), political sciences or geopolitics. Fundamental knowledge of energy security would add significant value to the candidate’s profile.

Prior research experience in related disciplines would also give the candidate an added advantage.

Study level

Internships are generally open to everyone, but priority is given to motivated, matriculated university students for whom an internship is either part of their curriculum, a thesis project, or applicants with work experience seeking new challenges.  

Potential work tasks:

Exploratory studies within the current energy security challenges of the European Union.

Contribution to multidisciplinary research on energy geopolitics, especially within EU external energy policy and its relations with China and Middle Eastern petrostates and in the context of the transition era.

Y Combinator Startups on Clean Energy and Sustainability

Data collection (especially implementing interviews with experts

Contribution to scientific publication in the energy and climate policy fields

Communicate with relevant stakeholders, SEI colleagues, and especially, external experts.

Support ongoing projects, contribute to preparing proposals within the CEA team, and support other work-related tasks on demand, mainly related to climate and energy security projects.
