Senior Research Fellow – Energy Institute – University of Sheffield, £59,421 to £66,857 annually

We are seeking candidates with an outstanding interdisciplinary research profile and clear potential as a future academic leader. If successful, you would be appointed as a Senior Research Fellow on an ongoing contract. You would have clear targets for research and leadership development over a five-year period. At the end of that five-year period, following the achievement of your research plans, you would progress to a full academic position within one of our academic departments, while remaining a key member of the Flagship Energy Institute.

During your first five years, you will focus almost exclusively on developing your interdisciplinary research profile, pursuing opportunities for high profile external grants, producing an array of high quality publications and exploring opportunities for partnership building and knowledge exchange and demonstrating the impact of your research. We will look to provide you with opportunities to develop your leadership skills, through supporting the leadership of a research group or other aspect of the Institute’s activities. We will also provide you with leadership development through our Sheffield Leader program to build these skills and equip you as an academic leader of the future.

Applications are welcomed from colleagues with Social Science backgrounds, and with strong track records on any social science agendas such as politics, economy, environmental science, management, supply chain, policy, geography, landscape and planning that cut across one or more of the six research pillars of the Energy Institute. In particular applications that are aligned to the energy sustainability, resource efficiency and circular economy pillar are welcomed. We also welcome and encourage applications from both internal & external candidates.
